Laser Skin Centre has been providing successful tattoo removal for four years using the Picosure Laser.
A Significant Amount of Research And Development Has Led To The Launch Of PicoSure, The Picosure laser is FDA cleared to treat ALL colours. We are well renowned for being able to treat stubborn blues, greens, yellows and red inks.
Picosure is a very safe laser, there is minimal blistering, and it is more common to have swelling post treatment.
Due to its photo acoustic ability it smashes the ink three times faster than any traditional laser previously used. The thermal relaxation time of the heat/energy emitted into the skin is also reduced by three. This results in a minimal down time post treatment, but exceptional results!
A thorough medical history is taken from our treating technicians, we do not treat pregnant or breastfeeding clients.
Depending on the location of the tattoo we typically treat at 6-8 weekly intervals for best results.
The before and after photos below show that even dark, stubborn blue and green inks, as well as previously treated or stubborn tattoos can be removed.
PicoSure’s ultra-short pulse duration goes beyond photothermal action creating an intense photomechanical impact, patented PressureWave™, resulting in greater disruption of the targeted ink for better clearance with fewer treatments, less fluence and without injury to the surrounding skin.
The PressureWave™ technology shatters the target ink into tiny particles that are easily eliminated by your body.
Traditional nanosecond lasers rely on photothermal action, which delivers heat to the pigment and surrounding tissue
This will vary from person to person as each individual is unique and our bodies do react differently to treatments. Factors to take into account are the size and location of your tattoo, the colours used, if it is already a cover up tattoo, and is also dependent on your skin tone.
The best way to determine how many sessions are required is by booking a consultation and speaking with one of our trained Laser Therapists.
Laser can be uncomfortable. We do, however, make your comfort our main priority. We use a cooling device.
The laser light pulses produced by the PicoSure laser may feel similar to a slight rubbing or flicking of a rubber band, although the apparatus does not touch the skin.
We also use the highest quality post care products available to ensure a safe healing environment.
After tattoo removal, it is common for the area to look red and it may swell. This can last for a few hours before subsiding. Some patients experience skin blistering too. Ointment and bandages can be used to help recovery from tattoo removal.
It is rare for patients to experience scarring after tattoo removal with PicoSure. You may experience hypopigmentation at first. This is when the skin colour lightens after PicoSure. But this is normally a temporary effect, and it is not something that will be permanent.
As long as pre and post care instructions are followed you will greatly minimise the risk of scarring. This means you will need to avoid going to the gym and staying out of the sun for the period of time described in your post care instructions.
PicoSure is an advanced laser treatment that can achieve fantastic results when it comes to tattoo removal. It is better at removing tattoos than traditional methods and it is estimated to remove around 95 percent of your tattoo. The colour and design will fade over time after several treatment sessions. The reason we say that it is going to fade 95 percent of your tattoo is because there are so many different tattoo inks. This means that results will vary from person to person. It is important to remember that PicoSure will work on most colours of ink, such as stubborn greens and purples, but it will not be as effective on red.
There is minimal downtime associated with tattoo removal. Yet, some vigorous activities should be put on hold in order to achieve the best results. Normally, there will be a recovery period of six to eight weeks between tattoo removal sessions. This will ensure the best results. It is always recommended that patients avoid sun exposure after tattoo removal. The skin will be sensitive after treatment and vulnerable in the sunlight. So, it is recommended to wear sunscreen after tattoo removal. You should only go back into direct sunlight after around four weeks.
